  1. Most people think that taking a driving test in summer months when there is no snow and ice to contend with will give better odds of successfully passing a road test on the first attempt.

I know many people who practice from April to August. But

in March or April at the latest set up an appointment in late August or early September for the road test.

This and the regular liscence (plates & drivers) renewals will account for the extra line-up of customers at a DMV.

Personally, I road tested in mid-December. I think this makes a better driver. Why? Because, in addition to being alert to people and traffic around you, the road presents challenges to respond to safely.

  2. Many people like the DMV so much, just hang out there any time they have some free time.

OK - people in DMV are not being held responsible.  So it isn't like they are going to lose their "customers" or lose their job for slow service.

    good Luck....
