Linksys WRK54G versus WRT54G Firmware

Question

I have a Linksys WRK54G that isn't being used, but I need a wireless access point/range extender/repeater. I believe the WRT54G will serve as an access point, but will the WRK54G do the same? Or should I forget going this route and just buy a dedicated range extender? Any ideas that would help me make a decision?
