Linksys WRT54GS disconnects from the internet?

ive put the cables properly...though everytime I connect this router it just disconnects me from the internet...I havent gotten online whenever I use the router

I used to have the same problem with my WRT54G. What you need to do is unplug the linksys and then hold the reset button as you turn it on. That should reset it to the factory settings of the linksys. If that doesn't work try to contact linksys live chat or phone help. They have worked greatly for me in the past. the problem with my linksys, it wouldnt reset the ip address, which may be the same problem with your linksys.
