Im trying to setup my linksys wireless g wrt54gs router. On the setup wizard, it keeps saying " The router is unable to connect to the internet. Try turning your cable/dsl modem off and back on again. Would you like to try again?. We just got at&t dsl. I first had it setup as DHCP, and that didnt work. Now i tried PPPOE, and used the info that i made with at&t's installer. That doesnt work either. I hate at&t and they suck, dsl sucks, cable was much easier, just hooked up a coaxial cable to a surfbord (moto) and off you were! someone please help me with this problem.

Thanks JamesP

  1. First, press and hold your linksys reset button for 10 seconds to reset it to factory defaults.

Next, follow the steps in the link below, which are setup instructions specifically for AT&T connections through Linksys routers.

    http://www.dslreports.com/forum/remark,1...

Part of the instructions above relate to the fact that AT&T likes to set their modems up to use the 192.168.1.x subnet, which is also what the Linksys (and many others) router uses by default. This often causes a conflict over what machine is supposed to be doing what in the network.  The instructions will tell you how to change the router's address so it gets a 192.168.x.1 address). This is probably the cause of your connection problem.
