Question:

Linksys modem and router upgrade?

I am in need of an upgrade on my linksys modem and router. They are over 4 years old now and I am told that you can get faster and more reliable connections simply by upgrading to a newer unit. My current modem model is a Linksys BEFCMU10 ver.3 which I plan on replacing with a Linksys CM100. My router is a Linksys WRK54G.. but I am not sure what to replace it with yet. I have been looking into the newer Wireless-N routers but I have seen mixed reviews about them.. for some people they work great and for others they are a nightmare. Do you think the modem choice is a good upgrade? And should I try my luck with Wireless-N or just stick to a newer Wireless-G router? So far it looks like if I go with Wireless-N that it will be the Linksys WRT300N model. I plan on purchasing these units on ebay so cost isn't too much of a factor. Thanks for your help! Obviously I am partial to Linksys =)

  1. I'm sticking with the WRT54G and WRT54GS routers on my networks.  They're still faster than any of the internet connections on any of those networks.  And I still use the Motorola SB4200 on most of them.  I have no complaint with a 15mbps connection.
