I have a Linksys "wireless-G 2.4 GHz Broadband Router" and the power adapter that came with it is broken. To get a new one from the company is 30$!!!!!! :-O Does is matter if I use a different Adapter or do I need the same voltage/output/etc??? The Adapter is:

Model.... AM-91000A

Input....... 120VAC 60Hz 15W

Output..... 9VAC 1000mA

I used my laptop cord and it didn't have a problem.... No clue what that adapter is.... As you can see I'm really bad at all this:}

Any help would be awsome!

  1. Any adapter that has the same output specifications should work.  You do need the same output voltage and at least 1000mA (milliamps) or greater. Note that the output voltage is AC not DC.  That means there is no +/- to deal with, but not as common as a DC output.  You will probably have difficulty finding it unless you have an electronics surplus house nearby.  Any replacement must also have the same plug on the end to fit the router.  Here is a link to one that might work:

    I don't understand your reference to your laptop cord.
