Linux on mac?

Is there anyway to run linux on a mac. I have a mac with os 9. It's decent. But Want to be able to play movies and all do more on it. So the question is is there a way to get linux to run on a mac.

  1. run a livecd first to see if you like the Linux operating system. Here is one to try Ubuntu LiveCD - https://help.ubuntu.com/community/LiveCD


  2. Yes download and burn a linux "live" disc...Now put it in you computer and reboot...you may have to alter the bios to set the cd drive to first boot priority.

  3. Above is technically right,  but ill explain it properly.

    Go to ubuntu.com or a linux distributor, just google it. Ubuntu is most well known. Download the ISO file, dont try and open it,  just burn it to a CD which you should know how to do.

    turn off the computer, turn back on and choose the setup facility/bios, this on a computer is like  F2 or something, dunno about on a Mac, then change boot sequence to CD before hard drive, and it'll install
