Linux on my old computer?

theres a computer sitting in my garage that i want to try linux on but i dont have the windows cds so if i want to go back to windows is there a way i can do that?

You're not using that old computer now, so why worry about going back to Windows?

Anyway, you could download a Linux live CD and try it out without installing it (but it will be slow especially if the old computer has less than 256 MB RAM); or you could buy a new hard drive and install Linux on there; or you could shrink the Windows partition and install Linux on the unused space.
