Lion King vs. Grease on stage?

Question

I'm looking right now at purchasing either Lion King or Grease on stage tickets for my mom's b-day to go. It would just be her and I. Both I can imagine would be great to see, but just curious if anyone has seen either of these or even both and what you thought of them.

I cant say I ever have seen them but I would go to Grease.. we are going to New York Next Week and those are one on my list...and you get to see American Idol Champion Taylor Hicks. Isnt the Lion King On tour anywho?

I have seen/worked on both.  Grease is a classic... its a great show and always will be.  However, astheticly the Lion King is an amazing show.  It is absolutly amazing what they can do with the costumes on top of the lighting and stage.  To be honest, if you are going to Broadway, see the Lion King.  Its fun, is beautiful and a great story.  The woman who plays Rafiki is actually from Africa and does speak the native language used in the play.  It all depends on if your mom wants to see a classic, or if she wants to see something "Disney".  If you are interested in the Disney plays there are some to stay away from.  Dont bother with Tarzan, Beauty and the Beast is ok... but Aieda is just as good if not better than the Lion King and it is not based off of a cartoon so you go in with no expectations.  There are so many great shows out there now, that its hard to pick.  If you want "bang for your buck" the Lion King is the way to go.  Take this from a licensed theater electrician in the business for 17 years.

I say Grease. i peformed it and it was the most fun ever!! and ur mom can relate to it.
