i am selling a lionel 2296w train set canadian pacific with 6 passanger cars and no original boxes. the set is in near mint condition can you tell me how much i should put it on ebay for i need help with this i have an idea but not an exact price

  1. you don't need to know, that the beauty of the auction, start low and if you must put a reserve on it at your wanting price, then just let them bid on it


  2. If it's a vintage set then it may be worth alot to the right person. Look for those trade shows that have trains on display & talk with people there. Who knows, you may have something very rare. But, the 1st answer is also correct. The beauty of an auction is to see what things are worth. Watch eBay for several months to see what pops up on your items & then maybe you can get an idea as to what to sell your trains for. It's time consuming, but it may get you more cash in the long run.

  3. Lionel engines and cars have unique numbers to them and there are references listing approximate value based on the numbers.

  4. Buy a copy of Greenberg's guide to Lionel trains. That will give you a reference point. See link:
