Lionel Khoo and Sandeep Sejwal win 50m breast-stroke gold medal – Singapore National Championships
Lionel Khoo and Sandeep Sejwal tied for the gold medal of 50m breast-stroke meet, on the concluding day of the 2011 Singapore National Swimming Championship.
The 15-year-old Khoo of Chinese Swimming Club S’Pore, who qualified as the fifth fastest swimmer into the finals, moved up to the fastest spot in the final rounds of the 50m event. The Chinese swimmer touched the finishing wall in a same time with the fastest
qualified swimmer, 21-year-old Sejwal of India.
Both swimmers presented an impeccable swim to conquer the top of the podium for the one-lap breast-stroke swim. They touched the wall in a same time of 29.10 seconds for the gold medal. They were followed by Nicko Biondi of Indonesia, who was only 0.17 seconds
away from them and occupied the podium for the bronze medal. Biondi touched the wall in a superb time of 29.27 seconds to sustain his third fastest qualification spot.
They were followed by Xin En Andrew Lim of Aquatic Performance Swim Club, who was 0.08 seconds behind the third position holder and followed him on the finishing wall for the fourth best spot, by clocking in a time of 29.35 seconds. Wei Xiong Parker lam
of Ace Swim Club emerged on the finishing wall and secured the fifth fastest spot in the finals, with a timing of 29.50 seconds.
Lam’s team-member, Wei Xiang Darrin Lam, was only 0.31 seconds away from him and posted a time of 29.81 seconds for the sixth position. The 16-year-old Darrin Lam remained 0.45 seconds faster than his closest competitor, Duan Le Kenneth Lim of Singapore
Swimming Club, who touched the finishing wall for seventh fastest spot, by touching the wall in a time of 30.26 seconds. The final spot of the event was secured by Guan Ji Ren of Aquatic Performance Swim Club, who submitted a time of 30.72 seconds for the
eighth position.
Khoo was delighted with his victory in the meet and the Chinese is looking to perform well at the upcoming events in competitive swimming.
