Lionel Messi “didn’t expect” to win the Ballon d’Or 2010
Lionel Messi was shocked after winning the ‘Player of the Year’ award in Zurich on Monday. Surprisingly, it was his coach Josep Guardiola, who was on the stage to name the best player of the year 2010. After the Catalan announced
Lionel Messi’s name, he himself started to applaud as the Argentinean made way from the crowd.

that he would win this award and he told the press how Andres Iniesta and Xavi Hernandez really deserved to win it. Soon after the show ended, Lionel Messi and the rest of the Barcelona team were joined by the media where they were questioned about different
things.
Lionel Messi won the award last year, but when Josep Guardiola announced his name again as the World Player of the Year, the Argentinean said that he was taken aback. “Leo” was certainly not the bookies favourite to win the award,
but he was able to come through all the odds and after the voting, he won it.
The other two Ballon d’Or finalists, Xavi Hernandez and Andres Iniesta also talked about their feelings after the Argentinean was crowned as the best player in the world. They were the first ones to congratulate Lionel Messi. Xavi
Hernandez declared that Lionel Messi is one-step ahead of all of the football players in the world. He insisted that he has never seen a player like him throughout his life. Andres Iniesta added on to Xavi’s words and said that “Leo” was worthy enough for
it and he deserved it.
A player, who is considered a “friend to all” in the Barcelona locker room, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gerard-c14664 Pique had something to say about Lionel Messi’s triumph. He said that the whole team is celebrating at the moment because all of them worked hard
for this. He also said that this win belongs to the youth academy of Barcelona, La Masia, and he was proud to be a part of it.
The newly signed Spanish striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-Villa-c10629 believed that Xavi Hernandez and Andres Iniesta deserved to win it. He said that Lionel Messi is a great player but in the year 2010, both the Spaniards accomplished more than he did.
He also said that even though Messi has won it now, Xavi and Andres can win it later because they have a lot of football left in them.
