Lionel Messi is the highest goal scorer for Josep Pep Guardiola
During his time in Barcelona, Josep Pep Guardiola has managed to win a lot of trophies and they simply do not come without the help of goal scorers. Goals are very important in winning games and in the past two years Lionel Messi is the one who has found the net more than any other player under Guardiola.
The sensational Samuel Eto’o couldn’t even score as many goals as Lionel Messi did and even though Eto’o is a prolific goal scorer, it was the Argentinean maestro who found the net more than any other player in the squad. It is true that the Catalan giants won all the six trophies that they were a part of during the year 2008, but they did not come without the help of the Argentinean winger Lionel Messi. He always provided the strikers with a killer ball so that they could score a goal with the help of his “assist.”
Under Josep Pep Guardiola, the Argentinean has managed to find the net 100 times and that is more than any other player has during this period. Samuel Eto’o does not even come nowhere near this tally as he only managed to find the net thirty six times which is very less than what Messi has achieved.
The former Arsenal player, Thierry Henry, is the one who stands third in the tally and the French star scored 30 times which is right under the Cameroonian striker Samuel Eto’o. FC Barcelona have scored 332 goals in total while playing under Josep Pep Guardiola and Messi is the one who has put 100 of those behind the net.
While performing for the Blaugrana side against the Danish Champions FC Copenhagen, the Argentinean striker opened the scoring for the Spanish Champions and added another to his tally to hit the century mark. Even though the moment was not bright for him because the Danish side equalized the very next minute, it is still something that not many players manage to pull off in only two years’ time.
Guardiola’s appointment as the coach of Barcelona saw Lionel Messi raise his game to the highest as he broke records after records. In only 117 games, the number 10 Barcelona man has scored 64 goals in league matches, 22 in the UEFA Champions League, and found the net 7 times during the Copa del Rey. The Argentinean sensation also found the net twice during the FIFA Club Word Cup which helped him take the tally to 100.
Barcelona have scored 332 goals during Guardiola’s tenure and Messi has found the net 100 times for them, which means that he has netted at least 30.1 percent of the total goals and stands ahead of Eto’o who has only 36 goals to his name; however, in third place it is Thierry Henry with 30, and then Pedro Rodriguez, who scored 25 just above the player who performed in Barcelona for a single year, Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The midfield magician Xavi Hernandez also found the net 18 times as Seydou Keita scored 13.
During the 2008-2009 season, Lionel Messi scored 38 goals for the Spanish side and impressed everyone; however, he managed to break his own record the very next season when he found the net 47 times and levelled the record of the Brazilian legend Ronaldo. During this season, Lionel Messi has scored 15 goals in 13 official games and seven of those goals have been scored during the last four games.
