Lions' DT Ndamukong Suh apologizes to NFL Commissioner – NFL News
Lions’ defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh is doing a last minute damage control exercise as the National Football League disciplinary committee is set to deliberate on the extent of his punishment.
Sources close to the defensive tackle are revealing that Suh has gone straight to the top of the National Football League’s structure. Suh is said to have contacted Commissioner Roger Goodell on Sunday to apologise for his latest
moment of madness during Detroit Lions 27-15 Thanksgiving Day loss to Green Bay Packers.
The burly 24-year-old is set to face a multiple game suspension and fines for his actions while discussions are also underway to mandate anger management classes to reign in Suh’s violent tendencies. Detroit Lions are also looking
to fine Suh $ 25,000 the maximum fine that can be incurred for a player ejected from the field in accordance with the new NFL Collective Bargaining Agreement.
The defensive tackle was ejected from the field of play early in the 3rd period against Packers when cameras caught Suh and Packers Guard Evan Dietrich-Smith scuffling on the turf. Suh was seen getting up and aiming
an intentional kick on Smith’s hand and was promptly ejected from the field by officials.
The ejection allowed Packers to take control of the game and crush any Lions hopes of ending their amazing unbeaten run. A livid Suh who most probably knew that his ejection was responsible for his team’s loss said after the game
that he never meant to kick Smith and was only trying to regain his balance.
"People are going to have their own opinions -- that's fine," he said after the game. "The only (people) that I really care about are my teammates, my true fans and my coaches and their opinions, and that's where it lies. And honestly,
the most important person in this whole thing that I have to deal with is the man upstairs."
However after furious reactions from every entity affiliated directly or indirectly with the game Suh retracted his statement and apologised through his official Facebook page.
"My reaction on Thursday was unacceptable," Suh said in "I made a mistake, and have learned from it. I hope to direct the focus back to the task at hand -- by winning."
The NFL will most likely reach a decision on the extent of Suh’s punishment by today.
