Lions' Suh apologises for incident during Packers game – NFL News
Ndamukong Suh is facing a backlash from all sides after his ridiculous attempt to stomp Evan Dietrich-Smith’s arm during Detroit Lions 27-15 loss to unbeaten Green Bay Packers on Thursday. His pathetic attempt to injure a fellow
professional has been condemned by all with his own team Detroit Lions releasing a statement to voice their shame due to his actions.
"The on-field conduct exhibited by Ndamukong Suh that led to his ejection from yesterday's game was unacceptable and failed to meet the high level of sportsmanship we expect from our players," the team said. "Ndamukong has made
many positive contributions to the Lions on and off the field. We expect his behavior going forward to consistently reflect that high standard of professionalism."
During a post match interview Suh denied that his actions warranted an ejection from the field of play. The Lions defensive tackle dismissed his actions as trying to regain balance and said he had no intention of kicking the fallen
Packers Guard.
Replays shown afterwards however showed a different picture. Suh was fighting on the ground with Smith repeatedly pushing down with full force on Smith’s head and when he got to his feet unleashing a well aimed kick towards Smith’s
arm. Officials promptly ejected a furious Suh from the field of play after witnessing the incident.
Suh yesterday after taking time to reflect on his actions and watching replays of the incident apologized on his official Facebook page releasing a statement
"My reaction on Thursday was unacceptable. I made a mistake, and have learned from it. I hope to direct the focus back to the task at hand -- by winning.”
The ejection had a big impact on the game’s outcome. Before Suh completely lost his cool Green Bay Packers were leading the game by just seven points from a Greg Jennings touchdown in the second quarter but Suh’s ejection led to
Packers taking over complete control of the game.
Packers built up a lead of 24-0 and with Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford struggling to make impact Packers went on to win a much hyped encounter with relative comfort.
