Lions v Dolphins – Momentum One Day Cup, 2012/13 – Match Update
Lions skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Stephen-Cook-c2571 led from the front with a crucial unbeaten century, and guided his team to a comprehensive 89-run win over the Dolphins in their match during the ongoing Momentum One Day Cup, played at the New Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg
on November 11.
The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Lions-c808 skipper Stephen Cook got his team off to a strong start, and anchored the innings with an unbeaten 108.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Quinton-de-Kock-c82885 (20), who joined Cook for
a 37-run stand.
de Kock was caught out by Vaughn http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Neil-McKenzie-c2094 (3) followed him back to the pavilion in the very next over, trapped lbw by Frylinck. Player of the Match Cook led the team forward with a series of
useful partnerships – a 44-run stand with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Jean-Symes-c66756 (11*), which got the team up to a total of 246 by the end of 50 overs.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/GC-Viljoen-c58714 Viljoen (6.1-0-31-2) then proceeded to lead the Lions’ charge against the Dolphins, and succeeded in bowling them out before they managed to reach the target.
The Dolphins’ batting performance, in response, remained fairly spiritless. Opener http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Cody-Chetty-c51372 (10),
and Prenelan Subrayen (10) all managed to get starts, they were unable to convert them into solid scores.
The remainder of the batsmen failed to cross over into double figures and crumbled without putting up much of a fight. By the 32nd over, the Dolphins found themselves all out at 157, with the Lions going on to claim a comfortable 89-run victory.
