Lions v Knights - Momentum One Day Cup – Live Score and Update
Lions 250/7 (50 ov) v Knights 205/4 (31.5/33 ov, target 204) - Knights won by 6 wickets (with 7 balls remaining) (D/L method)
On Friday, November 16, Lions had a run of bad luck when they lost their Momentum One Day Cup against Knights by six wickets after rain reduced their total of 250 to 204 at Senwes Park, Potchefstroom.
Lions, who chose to bat after winning the toss, had a decent start with openers SC Cook and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Tim-Groenewald-c2670 Mokoena staging a stand of 32 before the latter perished after contributing only two runs.
Cook was then joined by wicketkeeper/batsman, Q de Kock, who was equally lethal against the opposition.
The second-wicket partnership steered the side to 87, after which it was time for de Kock to hit the showers as he lost his wicket to Boje on scoring 33 runs off 32 deliveries.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Lions-c808 then lost another wicket in quick succession when Cook was stumped off Coetsee after jabbing an impressive 52. At the time of his dismissal, Lions were standing on 99 runs for three.
Before things could get any heated, ND McKenzie and T Bavuma halted the bowling onslaught as they smashed their side to 129.
The two batsmen tested the fielders with some outstanding running between http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Thomas-George-Burrows-c93472he wickets. Finally the partnership was broken by McLaren, who clean-bowled T Bavuma for 18.
Z de Bruyn – the man who came in next – was equally devastating as he smashed a brilliant 25 to help take his side to 186.
Nothing was working for the bowlers who were getting a stiff beating even after putting their backs into it.
With ND http://www.senore.com/Cricket/McKenzie-c75497 unbeaten on 67, Lions were in a comfortable position after posting a fightable total.
However, the weather played its part where the game was reduced to 33 overs, requiring http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Knights-c805 to make 204 runs in order to win.
Openers MN Erlank and WL Coetsee gave their side a launch pad of 43 runs before Coetsee fell for 11. RR Rossouw and RT Bailey were not impressive as they scored only two and 13 runs.
MN Erlank’s 52 followed by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/R-McLaren-c2232’s 41 got Knights across the finish line in 31.5 overs.
