http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Lions-c808 v Yorkshire – Champions League Twenty20 2012 (Group B) – Toss Report
The Highveld Lions won the toss and skipper Alviro Petersen decided to field first against Yorkshire, in a crucial Group B match during the ongoing Champions League Twenty20, at the New Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg today on October 20.
If they win, the Lions, currently at number 2 on the Group B points table, will be assured a spot in the tournament semi-finals alongside the Sydney Sixers, rendering the second match today (between the Chennai Super Kings and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 Indians) a dead rubber.
However, should Yorkshire manage to sneak a win, their victory will prolong the Group B competition for a spot in the semis.
With a handful of games having been washed out due to rain, today’s clash looked uncertain, with an overcast sky looming over the Wanderers. However, with the skies not threatening to burst open anytime soon, the race for the CLT20 semi-finals continues.
Having won the toss and played to their strengths by putting Yorkshire to bat first, Petersen claimed his team was eager to clinch the semi-final spot, and had made one change to their line-up – http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Dwaine-Pretorius-c54825 in for Zander de Bruyn.
“It's a must-win game, we want to play good cricket,” he said. “The boys are happy to be back here. Phangiso is doing a great job for us. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zander-de-Bruyn-c98565 sits out, Pretorius comes in.”
Meanwhile, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Oliver-James-Hannon-Dalby-c80190 had been brought in to replace the injured duo of Ryan
Sidebottom and Moin Ashraf.
“We'd have bowled as well,” Gale admitted. “We have nothing to lose. Sidebottom and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ashraf-c46397 aren't playing today.”
