****Lip piercing?****?

Question

Ok my cousin pierced the side of her lip by herself with an ear piercing gun (stupid,I know) that she bought.She currently has a regular ear stud in it.Its not a regular pointy back,the back is another ball.She plans on buying the proper jewelry for it.But will she be able to considering she doesn't know the gauge of a typical earring stud.Is it ok for her to buy the usual 14 gauge labret stud?Will that be too big or too small,or will it be just fine?BTW if she were to buy the labret stud how long should it be?A 7/16 like this one?http://www.hottopic.com/hottopic/store/product.jsp?FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302028413&PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524442174192&bmUID=1218662544581

Wow.  

Standard studs are usually 18G.  

She shouldn't buy body jewelry at Hot Topic, that is just asking for trouble.

Body piercings are usually between 16G and 12G.  They are that gauge for a reason. 18G is too small and is more likely to reject and grow right out of your cousin's face.

Tell her I said to have fun with her lip scars!

The only way to make a piercing larger is to stretch it and you cannot stretch a piercing until it is fully healed.

i would go for the smaller size because earing gages are alot smaller than lip gages. the usual ear gauge is an 18
