Question:

Lipton tea good for sore throats?

I have a bad sore throat, and I usually just drink lipton tea, I'm not sure weather it's green tea or whatever. All it says is all natural tea on the box.

I know it's no honey & chamomile but is it good for a sore throat?

  1. If you have a sore throat the most important thing is to make sure you keep hydrated and drink plenty of fluids, so any tea will  have some benefit to your condition. Lipton tea is black tea which, along with green tea and oolong tea, is known for its antiviral effect and ability to combat the flu virus. For therapeutic benefits, green tea is slighter better than black.

You might also want to try making fresh lemon, ginger root and honey tea. The ginger has a stimulant effect on circulation which helps fight coughs and colds, the lemon contains vitamin C which assists in wound healing and helps to strenghten the immune system, and the honey will soothe your throat as well as sweeten the tea.

...But back to your question about the Lipton... yes, it is good for your sore throat! If you enjoy it, keep on drinking it, and enjoy. I hope you get better soon!

  2. Hazel is correct, as long as you are staying hydrated it should help you.  As an added note, try adding some honey because that is good for a sore throat and try not to have the tea too good or too hot, as this may irritate your throat further.  Also stay away from milk and other dairy because this coats the throat and can irritate your throat.  There are also two things you can gargle with that may help to kill any bacteria - a spoon full of salt in 8 oz warm water or a mixture of half mouthwash and half hydrogen peroxide - just be sure not to swallow it!  Hope this helps!
