Liquid eyeliner... good or bad?

Question

I've heard some bad things about liquid eyeliner, but I really want something more bold and dark than pencil. But I also don't want it smudging and going all over the place.

Does the waterproof liquid eyeliner make a mess?

Waterproof liquid eyeliner from what I've experienced isn't as thick and smooth to apply as regular liquid eyeliner. It leaves thin patches on your eyelid.

Liquid eyeliner is a must for dramatic looking eyes.

It may be a little tricky and time consuming to get each side even but is definetly worth it.

Liquid eyeliner doesn't smudge as easily as eye pencil or kohl pencil, but it MUST be dry before you open your eye again or it will smudge badly.

(I usually give my closed eye a quick blast with the hairdryer on cool before opening it to make sure it's dry)

For a better result, look for a liquid eyeliner with a slightly thicker and harder brush instead of a thin flimsy one.

I thoroughly recommend 'Collection 2000 Fast Stroke' liquid eyeliner, as it gives you very dark and dramatic colour and goes on very easily.

it's good but it can be very messy if you haven't got a steady hand.

I use it most days and I've never really made a mess and any messes that are made can EASILY be cleaned up with cotton buds.

The trick is to not go to far up the eyelid because:

a) it tends to look really unattractive and unnatural - no matter how dramatic the look you're going for.

b) it'll smudge alot less if at all as there'll be no contact with the skin on top.

Also...it'll help if you hold your mirror at your chest and look down...this will expose more eyelid. Then resting the palm of your hand on your cheek will avoid shaking and you making a mess.

Go for a sharp line just above the eyelashes and a flick at the end and if you're doing a thicker line...close your eyes for about 20 secs straight after to let it dry..

hopefully you'll end up with killer eyes by the end of it!

It's good but only put it on your top eyelid. never put it on the bottom. It hurts!

It can look amazing! I'd recommend using liquid on your inner eyelid and then pencil outside, this helps to stop the liquid eye liner from smudging/running.

BUT

What i find works even better is using gel eye liner...that is if you want a more dramatic effect. Elizabeth Arden is a really good one.

I prefer the liquid eyeliner over the pencil anyday..In my opinion it lasts a lot longer, it doesnt rub off and smudge like the pencil does causing itching and burning of the eye..I definitely recommend it over the pencil anyday..

Liquid eyeliner is fab for the top lid, very sleek and dramatic...

However for a dramatic look on the bottom I would go for a jet black kohl with a shimmery dark shade underneath - dark green, dark purple, indigo, dark shade of gold, or dark grey. Also (although this does depend on the shape of your eyes) I suggest thickening the line toward the outer corner of the eye. Just have a play when you have some free time, and see what you like.

Oh and I always use rimmel kohl eyeliner. :)

For me collection 2000 was c**p it would crumble off. £3.00

I liked 2true it was VERY cheap about £1.99 tops.

the only problem is that the brush is thick.

However thats ok for me as i don't apply underneath,

i only apply on top.

It depends really because it can looks really cool on somebody's top lids- but only if they know how to apply it. Some people really don't and wear it anyway and it looks horrible!! I find the ones like paint really hard to use and they dry and crumple off. I much prefer the ones that kind of look like markers so it's like your basically just drawing a line with pen. So it's really easy :)

Rimmel liquid eyeliner is good because it lasts, don't put it on underneath. Pencil or even black eyeshadow applied thinly with a eyeliner brush is fine - it will fade. But you want subtle line not heavy of course. If the liners too thick then you can use an eyeliner brush to put it on nice and smoothly. Personally I love liquid eyeliner.
