Question:

Liquid sandpaper over polycrylic?

I'm painting raised panel kitchen cabinet doors we made out of MDF. Painting 2 coats primer, 2 coats white oil base, 3 coats polycrylic, sanding in between each coat. The backs are done. Have the first layer of polycrylic on the fronts. Can I use liquid sandpaper before the next coat of polycrylic?

Will it change the color at all?

Will it affect the perfect final gloss finish?

Have spent HOURS and HOURS painting and sanding these 15 doors, front and back, my arm is ready to fall off and I just want these darn things done. (But I still want them done right),

Next time I will use real wood, seems MDF is actually more expensive when you add in the cost of paint, sandpaper and HOURS of work.

  1. No don't use a liquid sandpaper. Buff in between coats with a sanding sponge. You will have much better results!
