Lisa Fissneider and Igor Borysik win 100m breaststroke gold: Day three – Luxembourg Euro-Meet 2012
Lisa Fissneider of Bolzano Nuoto and Igor Borysik of Ukrainian Swimming Federation met expectations of their fans by clinching gold medals of Women and Men’s 100m breaststroke respectively on concluding day of the 14th Luxembourg Euro Long Course
Meet 2012 on Sunday, January 29.
The session ended after the final rounds of 100m breaststroke and 100m freestyle in Men and Women’s corner.
Fissneider outperformed her competitors in the dual-lap breaststroke discipline. With her continued efforts, she kept her fellow swimmers at a prominent distance and transpired on the podium for gold medal by posting a time of 1 minute and 10.87 seconds.
She remained 0.50 seconds ahead of her following swimmer, Aggeliki Eksarchou of CN Havrais, who seized silver medal of the race by clocking a time of 1 minute and 11.37 seconds. Eksarchou was trailed by Maria-Georgia Michalaka of Aris S.C. Thessaloniki,
who proved her eligibility for the third best spot of the race by posting an effort of 1 minute and 11.55 seconds.
Moments later, Borysik clinched gold medal of the Men’s breaststroke event as he hit the wall in a finest time of 1 minute and 01.99 seconds. He edged out his following competitor, Laurent Carnol of FLNS with a margin of 0.18 seconds.
Carnol ended his swim in a time of 1 minute and 02.17 seconds for silver medal. He stayed just 0.06 seconds ahead of Hugues Duboscq of CN Havrais, who was just a nail away from his foregoing finisher and reported an effort of 1 minute and 02.23 seconds for
bronze medal.
Next was the Women’s 100m freestyle, where Amy Smith of Loughborough University demonstrated her relentless efforts and claimed victory by clocking a time of 54.78 seconds.
The gold medallist was trailed by her team-member, Caitlin McClatchey, who stayed only 1.01 seconds behind her and surfaced on the finishing wall with an effort of 55.79 seconds for second position. Silke Lippok of S.Startgemeinschaft Pforzheim remained
just one stroke behind the silver medallist and completed her swim in a time of 55.99 seconds for third position.
The final event of the session was Men’s 100m freestyle, where Markus Deibler of Hamburger SC pocketed the title by posting a time of 50.08 seconds. He was followed by Martin Verner of Czech Swimming Federation, who settled on the podium for silver medal
by reporting an effort of 50.28 seconds.
Jasper Aerents of Flemish Swimming Federation remained just 0.12 seconds away from second position holder and earned bronze finish by submitting a time of 50.40 seconds.
Furthermore, the championship concluded after the completion of all events in Men and Women’s category whereas the winners were invited on the medal rostrum for their irresistible struggles after the session.
