Lisa Fissneider pockets Girls 50m breast-stroke gold: Day two – 2011 FINA World Junior Championships
Lisa Fissneider of Italy pocketed the gold medal of Girls 50m breast-stroke event on day two of the 2011 Federation Internationale 3rd World Junior Championships on Wednesday, August 17, in Lima, Peru.
Fissneider posted a finest time of 31.51 seconds to grab the gold medal of the event. She was just 0.26 seconds behind the championship mark of 31.25 seconds, set by Amanda Reason of Canada in 2008. Fissneider’s effort was 1.42 seconds above the world mark
of 30.09 seconds, made by Yuliya Efimova of Russia in 2009.
The gold medallist was followed by Sarah Haase of United States, who remained only 0.33 seconds behind her and submitted a wonderful effort of 31.84 seconds for the silver medal. Haase was trailed by Claire Polit of France, who was 0.11 seconds slower than
her and ended her swim in a time of 31.95 seconds for the bronze finish.
Moments later, Kanako Watanabe of Japan occupied fourth position holder of the event, as she stayed 0.06 seconds behind the bronze medallist and posted a time of 32.01 seconds. Watanabe was in a lead of 0.16 seconds over her closest rival, Laura Simon of
Germany, who acquired the fifth best spot of the event, by clocking a time of 32.17 seconds on the board.
In the meantime, Malaysia’s Yen Ling Christian Loh stayed 0.48 seconds behind Simon and ended her swim in a time of 32.65 seconds for the sixth position. Loh was chased by her closest competitor and American swimmer, KC Moss, who was only 0.32 seconds slower
than her former swimmer and earned seventh best spot of the event, with a timing of 32.97 seconds. Moss was trailed by Tjasa Vozel of Slovenia, who finished her swim in the last place, after she touched the finishing wall to end her swim in a time of 33.33
seconds.
In addition, the session ended with the breath-taking swims of all contestants, while the winners received awards and accolades for their praiseworthy swims after the completion of day two's session.
