Lisa Keightley appointed as England women’s academy head coach – Cricket News
Former cricketer http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Lisa-Maree-Keightley-c73006 has been selected for the role of England women’s academy head coach.
The 39-year-old who retired from cricket in 2005 has played for Australia and New South Wales as a top-order batter. She claimed the reign of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-South-Wales-c823 women’s team as the coach. During her successful tenure she helped the Australian line-up achieve
consecutive titles. She then went on to become the head coach of Australia women’s cricket squad in 2007.
She is currently working with the Wiltshire Cricket as the supervisor of girl’s development and plans to continue performing as the head alongside her new post at the England women’s academy.
Keightley is pleased with her new appointment and considers it an honour to work with the academy which is an excellent development program for harnessing the potential of female cricketers.
"I'm delighted to have been appointed to the role…The England women's academy is just one part of the fantastic development program for talented girls in cricket and it will be great to work with high performance manager, Paul Shaw,”
she exclaimed.
"Having had a role in their recent winter program, I'm very much looking forward to working with the academy squad and hope to see many future England players progress through the ranks," Keightley stated.
The right-handed batter, who is now earning a name in the field of coaching, achieved fame due to her batting performance in the Australia roster.
Keightley registered the first century in the history of women’s cricket at Lord’s when she amassed a score of 113 in 1998. Later she climbed the charts to become http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746’s third highest run scorer in One Day Internationals. She ranked seventh on the all-time
list.
Clare Connor, who is the head of England women’s cricket, claimed that the Keightley’s selection proves http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 Cricket Board’s dedication to the promotion of female cricket.
Connor showered praise on the former head coach, Paul Shaw, saying that the academy’s program has flourished during his tenure. She added that in the last two years many players who performed at the academy have moved in to the England team. She hopes that
Lisa will excel as the head coach because she has the global knowledge and experience of women’s cricket.
