France international, Yoann Gourcuff is certainly a quagmire and a quandary that is yet to be solved. The youngster joined FC Girondins de Bordeaux from AC Milan as a talented player who had to be let go off as the likes of Kaka and Andrea Pirlo were irreplaceable

Gourcuff initially joined Les Girondins on loan for the 2008/2009 campaign before sealing a permanent move at the Aquitaine side for the 2009/2010 Ligue 1 campaign.

This season, Gourcuff has made just seven Ligue 1 appearances and seems to be a shadow of a player who mesmerised all with his performances for Bordeaux.
Despite attracting so much criticism, Gourcuff still has a few teammates who have a lot of faith in him.
Striker, Lisandro Lopez has been a peripheral figure for Lyon in recent months and has come to the defence of his teammate.

Lisandro Lopez’s recent statements would certainly be well-appreciated by Gourcuff who has struggled so much that some believe he might never realise his full potential.
