Ahead of the Clasico between http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Lorient-c39153. Bafetimbi Gomis and Jeremy Aliadiere scored a goal each for their respective sides as Lorient
remain unbeaten in the league so far this season.
Both sides had a lot of opportunities to take all three points but the game ended in a draw. However, the game’s biggest highlight was perhaps Remi Garde’s insistence to deploy star striker, Lisandro Lopez in an unfamiliar position.
Les Gones used the 4-5-1 formation against Lorient and the Argentine was deployed down the left flank. In recent games, the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186 man has been used in that position which has started annoying him.
Forced to provide defensive cover in his new-found position, the Argentine naturally lost his lucidity in front of goal, meaning that his influence during games has started waning and Lyon get less opportunities to score goals.
And, Lopez has now become frustrated at playing in a position where his productivity is more or less non-existent.
Against Lorient and in the Europa League before that, tired by the constant change in position, the striker asked Garde to replace him only 20 minutes after the game began.
While Gomis took four chances before scoring the opening goal of the game, Lisandro Lopez was more or less like a forlorn figure that had no idea what he was supposed to do in a position he has never really played in.
However, Remi Garde says that when playing against a good side like Lorient, it is important to use the width of the ground.
“Playing against a good team like Lorient, that uses the entire with of the ground, it’s true that you have to defend more. After that, I am not saying that there is no debate that this is not a subject of discussion between us, but the team is balanced
like this, and in this position, he (Lisandro Lopez), also scores goals.”
However, a happy Lisandro is more important than a grumpy one so Garde may have to do something about it.
