Despite several top class players leaving the Ligue 1 outfit this summer, the Argentine international believes that his side has what it takes to challenge the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Lille, for the Ligue 1 crown this season
While talking to reporters, the 29-year-old stated that the Rhone giants are in a good position to fight for Championelle this season.
Olympique Lyonnais are a big club with rich history, and Lopez feels that the club has the ability to once again become a force to reckon in France.
"I think http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-Lyonnais-c40130 should be considered potential champions every year because we're talking about a big club, with a real history and strong players," the Lyon striker told Ligue1.com.
On a question regarding Lyon’s objectives this season, the Argentinean stated that the players at the club have a strong belief in their abilities, and they know that they can become champions this season, if they play to their potential.
Lopez, who joined the Ligue 1 outfit from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186 in the summer of 2009, added that there are several teams in the country who can win the Championelle, including Paris Saint-Germain, who have spent heavily in the transfer market this season.
"When people ask me what Lyon's objective is this season, I say we want to be champions, to finish top. I want to be ambitious and aim for top spot. But of course the truth is there are some very good teams in France right now, especially PSG."
The 29-year-old has just picked one French Cup with Lyon, but remains optimistic of winning more silverware in the coming years.
"I would have liked to win more titles for sure. I hope we'll have more to celebrate this season."
Lisandro Lopez was an integral part of Remi Garde’s side last season that finished 4th in the league. The Argentine international managed to make 28 Ligue 1 appearances for Les Gones, scoring 16 goals in the process.
