Lisbon: Best Place to Have Chouriço à bombeiro and frango assado?

I only have one and a half day in Lisbon and I am eager to try authentic versions of these two dishes. Can you suggest a place to get either or both at Doca de Santo Amaro or around the Alfama area.

Many thanks.

  1. Hi! I lived in Lisbon for about a year..and I remember having great frango assado in both the alfama and bairro alto areas. The Bairro Alto is typically known as the bar area, but there are some very authentic home style restaurants hidden throughout those streets. Not only will you be able to find chourico and frango dishes, you will find local wines and desserts as well. Honestly, the best places are the ones you find on your own..just wandering the streets. There are soooo many cafes and you'll be able to tell which ones are good by the type of people who are eating there.. don't go to the touristy ones, stick with locals. Hope this helps!

  2. The fire house, "bombeiro" means firefighter.
