Lisbon Treaty: Yes or No?? And explan it in 10 words...?

Are you voting yes or no and why?? and cud you explain it in 10 words please?? not saying why its good or bad...just explain it, please...

The Lisbon Treaty signifies the end of democracy in Europe.

The treaty is over 3000 pages so explaning it in 10 words is not going to be accurate.

Basically it allows europe to work together more effectivly and will prevent further attrocities like ethnic cleansing in former yugoslavia from ever happening again, This does not mean that ireland has to got to war as our neutrality is respected.

In the 1990`s the bosnian serb conflict killed hundreds of thousands of people europes hands  were tied as it did not have any power to do anything as the years went on europe(EU) could only stand by and could do nothing, the lisbon treaty will give europe the power to step in and prevent this ever happening again.(this is just one of the many issues).

Conscription will never come to ireland as it is protected by our constitution. where this idea came i dont know.

90 years ago this year eamon devalera and irish republican figures went to versailles to get recognition of the irish free state, so by this account the people who fought for our independence were willing to work with europe. The proclamation of independence read on the steps of the GPO recognies our allies in europe, our most sacred document recognises europe, so saying we fought for our independence and relating europe to a loss of independence displays ignorance.

This treaty was developed during our presidancy of the EU, Irish people helped develop it, why would we want to sell ourselves short.

And saying you read about the cold war adds nothing to your arguement of a no vote, some of us grew up in a divided europe when there was 2 germanys, and all countries east of berlin were under soviet control, these countries are supporters of europe they did not have their independence untill 1990 so why didnt they put up a fight against the treaty when their parliments ratified it, take polands lech valenska he would not want poland to loose its soverenty , with him being the founder of the solidarity movement.

The EU being a superpower is a good thing, if oil was bought in euros instead of dollars we would have cheaper fuel, and there is talk of that happening.

Dictatorship what are you on??? do you know why europe was first set up for,  EC EEC and now the EU was a product of the ashes of WW2, this is the main aim of the eu , it is to prevent this from ever happening again. The EU is probably the best thing to come from world war 2

Im voting NO,

We dont need to spend up to 6% of our GDP on our army.

(it 14 words I know but some of them are small)

I should add that the treaty does not say 6% which is why I have said "up to 6%". It does say that we will have to increase spending which we dont need to, whether it be 1% or 6% we dont need to. Plans are already being made for this increase by France and Poland. If we agree to the treay and the figure is set at 6% there will be nothing we can do. They need to go back to the drawing board come up with a better deal and I will gladly vote for it.

They might be introducing conscription for a European Superarmy. d**n!

And Europe will eventually become a superpower like USSR and America during the Cold War. I was reading summit bout the treaty,and it said:

Fiction: All of the young people in Ireland will be conscripted into a European Superarmy

Fact: (ok well I cant remember the exact wording,but they DIDN'T DENY IT. All they said was that there would be a peace-keeping army like the UN,but it DIDN'T DENY CONSCRIPTION. Well,of course,the army will be for peace keeping missions for now,but what about in 10,20 years time?? It will be like any other army in the world,and there will prob. be a war,and who will be involved?? The European Superarmy!!

Oh,and eventually,the whole of Europe will prob. become a Dictatorship....

AND,the European countries will have no say in the law,we will all be under the same law in every country,and have no say what-so-ever in it,it will all be politically controlled....

But,you have to say;do the positives outweigh the negatives??

until tonight i was voting yes,because i don't believe we can make it on our own....

but after watching news,prime time,and reading yahoo Q+As.

......I've no idea at all anymore,

maybe its time we stood on our own two feet and after years and years of bloodshed,battles,famines and fortunes.we prove we are the one nation we always wanted to be!!!!
