  1. Yes, I've been.  i went to the 'match making festival 2 years ago.  Its held every September.  It was the most bizarre experience of my life, but brilliant craic.  Even if I did feel 30 years to young for the 'eligible' bachelor's......as one said to me 'your still at child bearing age....fantastic.. '

Apart from all that Co Clare and the Lisdoonvarna area is absolutely beautiful.  Go to Doolin, Ballyvaughan, the Burren,  and take in Fr Teds house (its just down the road) and the Cliffs of Moher.  You'll be taking photos all day because it truely is one of the most beautiful places I've ever been.  At least the scenery took my mind of the 70 year old bachelors for a few minutes at least. LOL

I don't know where the nearest hospital is, maybe Ennis or Galway, hopefully someone else will be able to help you out on that one.

Have a great time.  I must go back soon, when the festival is not on. LOL

  2. I think the nearest hospital would be Ennis, and that's a bit of a distance away. There's also the University hospital in Galway.

Lisdoon is great, I'd recommend the Roadside Tavern for evening meal and entertainment, there are great sessions there. You're close to Doolin, which is ruined from overdevelopment, but from Doolin you can take the ferry to the Aran Islands for a day.

If you want to go out into the Burren for photography, don't forget your macro lens. You're not allowed to pick flowers in the Burren, but there's nothing stopping you from taking photographs.

A nice day trip from the Burren is to take the Corkscrew Hill Road to Ballyvaughn and return to Lisdoonvarna by the Coast Road. If you have a clear day, you have the most marvellous views (and hopefully photo opportunities) of Connemara and the Aran Islands.

  3. Try going through some of the sites on this page.

    http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&sa=...

  4. I always leave on a Thursday night,

With me tent and me groundsheet rolled up tight.

    I like to hit Lisdoon,

    In around Friday afternoon.

This gives me time to get me tent up and my gear together,

I don't need to worry about the weather.

Ramble in for a pint of stout,

you'd never know who'd be hangin' about!

    There's a Dutchman playing a mandolin,

And a German looking for Liam Óg O'Floinn.

And there's Adam, Bono and Garrett Fitzgerald,

Gettin' their photos taken for the Sunday World.

    Finbarr, Charlie and Jim Hand,

And they drinkin' pints to bate the band.

( why would'nt they for Jasus sake are'nt they getting it for nothing)

  5. make sure you have an E 1 11 health card. Its a european wide health card and you will need one to access the public health service in Ireland for free. Your local health board will give you one for nothing.

  6. Lisdoonvarna is DEAD. Doolin is great for music and a bit of craic - as is Ballyvaughan. get up onto the Burren.
