  1. Dos:

General eye contact with the audience

    A positive, slightly bouncing voice

    Speaking concisely

    Don'ts:

    Hands in pockets

    Bringing up your personal beliefs

    Pelvic thrusts

  2. Always try to stay assertive. This helps the ethos of your speach.  Also make good eye contact, this keeps the audience interested and lets them know you are staying active.  Talk in a voice that is not too low, but not too loud. Try to find a middle tone .  Also know your audience, you do not want to talk about abortion techniques with a pro-life crowd.  You have to be able to feel your audience, this usually happens with a lot of practice and self assurance helps.

Do not say "ummm" a lot. Or "you know what I mean?" after every sentence.  Or any other word which is said when you pause to think.  If you have to pause and think , go ahead and do it, it won't be akward and it gives your audience a chance to think as well.  Just try to stay calm.  Be aware of where your hands are at, do not cross them, put them in your pockets, or lean on something for too long.  Use your hand with your speach, but don't overuse.  The key overall is to try and find medium ground.

Good luck, and remember practice makes perfect!
