6. Ken Griffey Jr.
Ken Griffey Jr. smacked 630 home-runs in his MLB career. Only five other hitters have more MLB home-runs than him. Therefore, he is placed sixth on our list.
5. Alex Rodriguez
Alex Rodriguez is one of only two modern era players to have hit more than 600 home-runs. He made a name for himself while playing for the New York Yankees. He is also one of the most expensive players in history of the game.
“We're here to support him through it. I don't condone what he did. We don't condone what he did. And Alex doesn't condone what he did. And I think at this point now it's our jobs to try to help him be as comfortable as he can on the field and try to move
past this,” Derek Jeter said.
“He is without a doubt the best player in baseball, but I only hope that someday he might be as a good a player as he is a person,” Former Rangers’ Manager Jerry Narron said.
For his consistent performances, Rodriguez was presented with the Most Valuable Player Award in 2003, 2005 and 2007. He has also won the Gold Glove Award on two occasions. Rodriguez is in the twilight of his career. It will be interesting to see if he can
hit a few more home-runs to move up a couple of places on this list.
4. Willie Mays
Willie Mays made his MLB debut in 1951. He played for the Yankees from 1951 to 1957, hitting home-runs on regular basis. By the time Mays ended his career in 1973, he had smacked 660 home-runs. He also drove in 1903 RBI’s with .941 OPS. In addition to being
an excellent hitter, Mays possessed strong defensive, which let him win the Gold Glove Award for 12 consecutive seasons.
3. Babe Ruth
Babe Ruth secures the third spot on the list with 714 home-runs and an impressive .342 batting average. Between 1915 and 1932, Ruth was the most successful hitter. He helped the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees win several important titles in his
17-year long legendary MLB career.
Most fans of baseball feel that Ruth is the top home-run maker as his image and persona overshadow most players of his era.
2. Hank Aaron
Hank Aaron is also one of the greats of the game. From 1954 to 1976, Aaron dominated the pitchers, showing his incredible hitting abilities. Aaron was the most consistent hitter of his era. With 755 home-runs, 2297 RBI’s and .929 OPS, he is placed second
on the list of top 20 home-run hitters in history of the game.
1. Barry Bonds
Barry Bonds is at the top of our list with a record 762 home-runs to his name. He is one of the only three players to have hit more than 700 home-runs in their big league careers. In addition to his exceptional hitting abilities, Bonds was a durable and
reliable hitter.
He also drove in 1996 RBI’s with an excellent 1.051 OPS. In his 21-year long career, Bonds remained surrounded by many controversies and issues. Nonetheless, he is still a source of inspiration for youngsters and Minor League players.
