List of injuries grows for Miami Marlins as Hanley Ramirez suffers right knee ailment-MLB
Miami Marlins see two players getting injured in one day. Right-fielder Giancarlo Stanton and third-baseman Hanley Ramirez did not play the game against the Milwaukee Brewers. As per reports, Ramirez is enduring a right knee ailment. It will take some time
before one can be certain about his return.
For an already struggling offence, losing two players is a huge setback. Ramirez has maintained a .333 on-base-percentage, with 12 home-runs and 43 RBIs so far in the season. Apart from this, he has been impressive at third-base while making plays.
He was gradually heading to his groove. While he kick-started the season and was not at his best at the start, the days passed by and he improved sharply. During May, which turned out to be one of the best months the Marlins have ever experienced in their
history in terms of number of wins, he was among the star players.
Therefore, the manager Ozzie Guillen will look to get him back at the earliest.
All-Star break can be a blessing for him, as he can find a time for resting without missing official matches. However the fact he may miss the rest of the games in their on-going series against the Brewers is a concern for Miami.
Until Hanley comes back, Donovan Solano will assume duties at third-base. Although Solano is a promising third-baseman, he cannot replace Ramirez. The way Ramirez had adjusted to the surroundings, Solano will take some time to get started and reaching the
same level of comfort.
Guillen has stated that they scratched Ramirez immediately after learning that he has sore. He explained it was riskier to include him and the cost could be a lengthy outage from the season.
"He's been sore for the last couple of days," Guillen said. "Today, he started swinging and was sore. I would rather give him a day off than lose him for 15, 20 days."
Ramirez will be resting in the next few days. He will be making sure he is free from pain once he comes back.
He will be taking All-Star break as an opportunity to recover properly and come out improved on his return. Ideally, he will like to get over the injury even before the All-Star Game begins.
