List of injuries in 2012 regular season grows as compressed schedule comes into play – Part 2

The Nationals currently boast an all-out in-flow of analysis coming in their favour. They have Stephen Strasburg, who recently received Pitcher of the Month status and Gio Gonzalez who can be as fearsome as one can imagine. Turn to their offence now, from
Ian Desmond to Ryan Zimmerman and from Bryce Harper to Michael Morse, an expert will only be fair in labelling the Nationals as one of the hot contestants for the playoffs.
Now, imagine, as is very much likely if last month is anything to go by, Strasburg suffers fatigue and sits out for an indefinite time. Gonzalez in the meanwhile drops in control on the mound after experiencing an exhaustion of dominance in a reasonable
number of games. Moving on, think of an even worse: injury-plagued right lat of the Morse re-ignites again down in the season and so happens with Zimmerman’s shoulder inflammation.
What then for the Nationals, what for all the objective prophecies pundits came out with about the clubs’ chances in the season?  Thus, a club on top one day can be right on their toes the next. This is a kind of an unfortunate reality that appears to be
in the making for the 2012 regular season.
Even the best of players can easily grow complacent as they shine in a few games. Since the season is too long, a prime of their potential coming off in few games can barely sustain enough that their side could propel to heights on the back of those outings.
Either a side should have great numbers of aces or they should face a hard fact in the form of fewer resources to work with.
Who will hand the Boston Red Sox their competitiveness back in an absence of their starter Chris Carpenter? Who will provide the Phillies’ ace Roy Halladay an enough time to display his artillery in full swing on the mound?
Carpenter sustained a right elbow injury on April 4, just on the conclusion of Spring Training. His right elbow will always be in line of constant fire even as he returns. Endurance of lengthy responsibilities in the season is going to keep his elbow vulnerable
to a rejuvenation of the pain. One will not be surprise therefore if he is lurking on DL again soon after his comeback.
Eric Chavez is a latest addition to the list of ever-increasing injuries in the season. A third baseman with the New York Yankees, he is hitting .290 in the season. Three home-runs and five RBIs contributed by him thus far mean he was well on his way to
propel the Yankees to a premier position in the season.
A hectic schedule kind of stream rolled him. Concussion he is now is troubled by due will keep his best at bay, even when he recovers in time. With few months more into the season, one can predict a hard reality the Yankees manager will be dealing with.

While injuries are un-avoidable, the role of the manager assumes a far greater significance in the process. Making plans on every single player is almost impossible.
However efforts can be directed at making precise calculations about each player. Have right substitutes in place and keep the contingency plan as ready as the one at-hand. Making through uncertainties like this will be easier. In turn, it will keep the
door for fetching a competitive edge open for any manager.
