List of medical suspensions for UFC on Fuel TV released – UFC news
A comprehensive list of medical suspensions was released by the State Athletic Commission of Nebraska for UFC on Fuel TV: Sanchez vs. Ellenberger event which was held last week in Omaha, on February 15, at the Omaha Civic Center.
Jake Ellenberger won the main card bout via unanimous decision.
As per the details in the list, Ronny Markes has been suspended for his right hand, which was broken during the middleweight bout with Aaron Simpson. Markes has been suspended for an indefinite period until he recovers completely.
Upon recovery, he will have to submit a physician’s clearance for the injury in order to get approval for fighting again.
Others mentioned in the list include Vagner Rocha, Dave Herman and Philip De Fries. All three of them have been suspended for thirty days. Suspension of 30 days is standard after UFC bouts if the fighter loses via KO or TKO.
On February 15, Jake Ellenberger exhibited his best performance to date due to which the fight was recognized as Fight of the Night. It was this very fight that forced President Dana White to make all future UFC bouts of 5 rounds instead of 3.
After the fight, fans were complaining for the fight being too short and so Dana White announced that it was a blunder on his end and from now on all UFC events will come with 5 round bouts.
On the demands made by his fans, Jake Ellenberger was surprised and excited at the same time. In a post-bout interview he said, “I think the fans do want it, but at the same time, I don’t know if that’s what the UFC wants or not. I really don’t. If it was
up to me, then yeah, we’d probably be fighting in May or June, but I don’t know if that’s what the UFC wants. I think they kind of still put it in Condit’s hands, but I know Carlos. I know his manager, and I know they don’t want that fight. But again, if I
put myself in their shoes, I don’t blame them.”
Jake thinks he is too good for Condit to handle and that is the reason as to why Condit does not want a rematch.
