List of top 100 performers in the game – MLB 2012 Update - Part 10
16. Jose Reyes
Jose Reyes had his share of injuries for years but he came back stronger than ever before in 2011 to build up a tremendous value as a free agent. The speedster looked in supreme form throughout the season and he went on to win the National League Batting
title with an impressive .337 average.
He also set his career best stats with .877 OPS and 149 wRC +. Following his consistent performances in Major League Baseball, he signed a very nice deal with the Miami Marlins. It will not be wrong to say that 2011 changed the course of his career.
Reyes is regarded as one of the fiercest competitors in the game today. Making a difference at the plate, he proved himself to be the most dynamic catalyst in baseball. It is a shame that he hasn’t topped 140 games since 2008 due to health and fitness issues.
If he can stay healthy to take part in all the games next season, Reyes will surely be placed a lot higher on my list of top 100 performers next year.
Miami will be very concerned about his fitness to see if they can get a full season out of their new $106 million specialist. If they can get that from Reyes, they will have a great chance of reaching the 2012 playoffs. I hope that Reyes can stay healthy
because when he is in full flow, he is a treat to watch.
“I try to do the best I can to help this team win. But sometimes things go wrong for you. Hopefully that thing doesn't happen again and we can get to the World Series. I never thought I might become famous. It takes getting used to,” said Reyes in an interview.
He further added that “I try not to pay much attention to what people say—I just try to concentrate on the game. I'm the leadoff hitter, it's my job to lead this team. I know people say the way I go is how the Mets go, so I'll do whatever it takes.”
17.  Prince Fielder
Not living to his immense potential in 2010, there were rumours that Prince Fielder will leave the Milwaukee Brewers side to land somewhere else. However, Doug Melvin didn’t think that way as he decided to keep the left handed striker in his team in 2011.
The strategy worked out brilliantly for Melvin and Fielder as both parties achieved significant results during the season. Brewers had one of the best seasons in franchise history and Fielder managed to register one of his best seasons in the Major League.
Showing his hitting abilities throughout the year, Fielder finished the season amongst the top three in the NL with 38 homers, 120 RBI’s, 107 BB and .981 Ops. Since 2009, Fielder has raised his game to an entirely new level to finish in the top-10 in baseball.
Having 116 home-runs with 344 RBI’s and .547 SLG in the last three seasons goes on to suggest that he is in prime form right now.
Helping the Brewers secure memorable wins, Fielder established himself as one of the finest players in their franchise history. However, his tenure with Milwaukee is finally over and he is unsigned for 2012 at the moment. Where ever he chooses to go, Fielder
has the ability to alter the landscape of the next MLB season.
