List of top 100 performers in the game - MLB 2012 Update - Part 3
The mighty Pujols smashed three home runs in game three of the World Series to become the only third baseball player to achieve such a feat; Babe Ruth and Reggie Jackson were the other two. The guy had a wonderful post season and he batted brilliantly under
pressure to let the Cardinals win the championship.
Owing to his commanding form, Pujols batted with an excellent .353 average with 5 home runs and 16 RBI’s. In eighteen games, he produced an amazing 1.155 OPS that helped his side lift the trophy for the eleventh time in their history.
However, after having a dream run in the 2011 regular season with Cardinals; Pujols has now signed a mega deal with Los Angeles Angels. Surely, he will be looking to provide Angels with everything they ask for and there will be immense pressure on him to
perform well. Considering his ability to rise to the occasion, he is bound to have another great season in the MLB.
4. Ryan Braun
It will not be wrong to say that Ryan Braun’ emergence in the MLB circuit has played a key role in the Brewers’ return to relevancy the past five years. Braun made his name in the baseball world when he had an absolutely astonishing 2007 season. Hitting
34 Homers with 97 RBI’s and 1.004 Ops in 113 games, he established himself as a major force at the plate and in the field.
In his five big seasons in the league, the right handed striker has delivered for his side whenever they needed him to. Following his consistent performances, he was ranked in the top ten among all players with 328 RBI’s, .318 hitting average, .548 SLG and
154 wRC+. He was also included in the All-Star team this past season after he joined the 30-30 club.
Braun went on to win a Silver Slugger award for the fourth time and he displayed some high quality skills to lead the Brewers all the way to the NLCS. For his exceptional talent and consistency, he was also awarded the NL MVP award at the end of the 2011
season.
“Whenever you get an award at the end of the year, it means you were consistent during the season and helped your team win. That means a lot to me. I’ve always expected to get to this level. I’ve always expected to have success. I’m comfortable on the big
stage”, said Braun.
He further added, “The perception of the Brewers has changed a lot. We’re no longer this little small-market team in obscurity. People are starting to realize the talent we have here.”
When Braun first broke into the Majors league, he was assigned the duties of a third baseman. However, that position did not work out for him as he failed to live to his immense potential. Milwaukee’s manager then moved him to the left field, which worked
out just fine for him as he is now considered among one of the best hitter in the league. Braun will be looking to continue his sensational form in the 2012 season as well.
