List of top 100 performers in the game - MLB 2012 Update - Part 42
83. Carlos Quentin
Carlos Quentin is one of the most dynamic players in Major League Baseball right now. Since joining Chicago White Sox in 2008, he has produced magical performances for his team. Showing his amazing hitting skills, he established himself as a force to be
reckoned with during that season.
The striker made the most of available opportunities to hit 36 home runs with 100 RBI’s. His .965 OPS was also amongst the best in the American League. However, injuries halted his progress significantly and he hasn’t been able to recover his prime form
since then. Had he not suffered from a wrist injury in 2008, he may have won the American League Most Valuable Players award.
Although he hasn’t been able to live up to the expectations since then, he hit at least 20 home runs in each of the last three seasons. It appears as if his wrist injury has played a crucial role in his decline in MLB rankings. In addition to his health
and fitness problems, Quentin can be awful in the field since his career Fld of -31.9 in the right field isn’t that great.
"I will continue being who I am. It's how I've been successful my entire life,” said Quentin in an interview.
Undoubtedly, he has sensational run scoring and hitting abilities. With some more work on his defensive skills, he can become one of the hottest players in the game. The upcoming season will be very crucial to him. He will be looking to perform consistently
to improve his batting average and Fld. Being only 29 years old, he still has a lot of baseball left in him. if he can raise his game play in 2012, he could earn a huge pay day at the end of the season with San Diego Padres.
84. Mike Napoli
Mike Napoli is an extremely powerful right hand striker. He has the ability to single handedly change the complexion of the game. Since making his Major League Baseball debut, he has produced memorable performances. However, it will not be wrong to say that
his tenure with Texas Rangers is what changed the course of his career. Making the most of available opportunities, he posted the finest season of his career with the Rangers.
The right handed striker was acquired by the Rangers in a trade with Toronto Blue Jays. While Wells’ putrid failed to deliver the goods, Napoli rubbed salt in his former team’s eyes, helping the Rangers win the division title.
"It will be ready to go by Opening Day for sure," Napoli told ESPN in an interview. "It will be at 100 percent by then. I just have to keep working on it and get used to baseball stuff. I want to see what it's all about. I'm hoping he's a phenom. We'll see.
I can't wait to see him. I want to do my part."
Although Napoli appeared in only 113 games during that season, he hit 30 home runs with 75 RBI’s to make a name for himself. His incredible 1,045 OPS suggests that his offense was one of the best during the regular season. The hitter continued his impressive
run in the post season as well as he hit 2 home runs with 10 RBI’s and 1.164 OPS. Had the Rangers won the World Series title, Napoli would have been the Most Valuable Players of the post season.
