  1. Ball and socket (Head of Femur)

    Hinged (Humerus/Ulna, mandible)

    Fused (cranium or pelvic girdle)

    Pivot (most vertebrae)

  2. Since you did not specify what type of joints I listed the joint classification with brief description. If you need more info for certain joint type just let me know. Hope it helps :))

    1. Classification of joint by structure (presence or absence of synovial cavity = space between the bones)

    a. fibrous joints (bones held together by collagen fibers, no synovial space), examples are sutures (on skull), syndesmoses (distal tibiofibular joint) and gomphoses (between roots of teeth and their socket)

    b. cartilagous joints (bones held together by cartilage, no synovial space), examples are synchondroses (epiphyseal plate of growing bone), symphyses (pubic symphysis, between manubrium and body of sternum)

    c. synovial joints (have synovial cavity, capsule and many times ligaments), examples knee joint, elbow joint

There are several types of synovial joints:

    * planar joints: side-to-side and back-and-forth gliding, example is intercarpal joints = between carpal bones and wrist

    * hinge joints: open-close motion, example knee, elbow, ankle

    * pivot joints: rotation along long axis only, examples atlantoaxial joint (movement of the head from side to side - as you say "no")

    * condyloid joints: movement around 2 axis, example is metacarpophalangeal joints for 2nd to 5th digits - moves index finger up and down and from side to side)

    * saddle joints: it is modified condyloid joints where the movement is freer, side-to-side and up-and-down movement, example carpometacarpal joint between trapezium of the carpus and metacarpal of the thumb

    * ball-and-socket joints - movement around 3 axes and all directions in between, examples are shoulders and hip joints

    2. Classification of joints by function (relates to degree of movement they allow)

    a. synarthrosis - immovable joint, examples gomphoses, sutures, synchondroses

    b. amphiarthrosis - slightly movable, example syndesmoses, sympheses

    c. diarthrosis - freely movable, all are synovial joints

  3. ball and socket: hips

    Hinge joint: elbow and knee

    Semi movable joint: vertebrate
