Why are the small numbers of surviving tigers a cause of worry from the point of view of genetics?

hi there ! less number of tigers so the breeding pool is very small. so the polymorphism in MHC molecule is reduced. so due to this the disease susceptibility will increase. this is what happened with cheetahs and florida . due to limited polymorthism in MHC molecule they were susceptible to viral diseases.

It means that there will be a greater degree of inbreeding, causing the remaininig animals to be at greater risk of genetic diseases.
