Lite On disc writing failure

Question

My lite On DVD recorder is 2 1/2 years old and has started to fail writing R+ discs properly. I noticed about a year ago that when I record on R+ discs and finalize them, I want play them in another dvd player and that player will not recognize the disc. RW+ discs work o.k. I compared an older recorded disc to a recently failed disc and noticed a skipped space from where the recording should have started near the spindle hole. I wasted a few discs by testing the recording after a thorough cleaning of the unit. I went so far as to remove the cover and directly clean the lense and air blow all the components. It STILL in not working right. Also I have the same door close problem. Any recomendations? Thanks, K
