Ethanol is combusted with excess oxygen. How many liters of ethanol (d=0.789g/cm3) will produce 1.25L of water (d = 1.00g/cm3)?

I'm not sure where I went wrong in this problem.

Here is my work::

C2H6O 3O2 ---> 2CO2 3H2O

6.94mol H2O * 1 mol C2H6O/3 mol H2O = 2.31 mol C2H6O

2.31 mol C26O * 46.07 C2H6O/1 mol C2H6O = 16.42 g C2H6O

106.4g C2H6O * 1L/789g C2H6O = .135L

This answer is incorrect.

  1. 1.25 L H2O = 1250 g = 69.4 mol H2O

    69.38 mol H2O / 3 = 23.13 mol C2H5OH

    23.13 mol x 46.07 g/mol = 1065.6 g C2H5OH

    1065.6 g / 0.789 g/mL = 1351 mL = 1.351 liters

    69.4 mol H2O not 6.94
