Former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jari-Litmanen-c17896 has backed the Reds striker Luis Suarez to go on and become a Liverpool legend, and expressed his admiration for the exceptional talent that he possesses.
The Uruguayan footballer has been a massive success at Anfield since making his move from the Dutch side Ajax in January last year, for an estimated 20 million pounds fee. Currently, he is the leading goal scorer for the Reds in the ongoing season with 17
scalps in all competitions.
The 41-year old, who also represented the Merseyside team in 43 games and netted 9 goals during this period, believed that Suarez possessed all the traits of an exceptional player, and has got an opportunity to become one of the greatest Liverpool players
to have ever graced the game.
He told the club’s official website, “Time will tell what kind of results http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 will get in the coming years, but we all already know Suarez is a great player.”
Litmanen, who also used to play as a striker, refused to draw comparisons between Suarez and himself, pointing out that the Uruguayan footballer has the knack of scoring goals on regular basis and on big occasions, while he mostly used to play second fiddle
up-front.
The former Ajax player also mentioned that it was difficult to choose Liverpool’s greatest player of all times, and put forward the name of the Reds current manager Kenny Dalglish as one of the contenders.
He continued, “It's difficult to compare different players from different times. Of course, Kenny and Kevin played in great teams that won a lot of trophies.”
The Lahti native also went on to say that a lot has changed since he last played for the club ten years ago, and despite his brief stay at Anfield, he will cherish his memorable time at Merseyside for the rest of his life.
“I supported Liverpool as a child, so I knew all the stories about the club when I first came here, they still are one of my favourites and it was such an honour for me to come to a big club like Liverpool.” He added.
