  1. is it low enough for him? kittens have to scale the walls of adult boxes. put a card board box with litter in it next to the litter box that he can step into , until he gets bigger.

if it is low enough, try a new box or moving it. if he was in the box when something scared him, he might have thought it was the box that scared him.

  2. Most Kittens Like rolled up newspaper for their litter. Try That!

  3. Maybe it's the cat litter that you're using.  Try a different kind.  Try something that is kind of soft (a clay litter for now).  Some of the other ones are as hard as gravel and maybe hurt the little kittens feet.  Also, maybe it's too high for him to climb into right now.  What I did and my daughter did when we had kittens is, we bought some of those small foil broiler or similar type pans in the supermarket that are disposable.  Put the litter in there and the kitten only had a tiny side to step over to get to the litter.  Guess you can do that with a small box too but you'd better make sure it's lined with plastic or else it will seep through the cardboard.

It's been said not to use that clumping litter while they are still kittens especially because if it is on them and they clean themselves, it can blow up in their stomach, much the same way that it clumps in the pan, and cause an obstruction.

Kittens are usually miraculously easy to train to use a litter box.  All it usually takes is putting them in it for the first time and then they use it every time they need to.  Is the litter box perhaps in an area that frightens the kitten.  They usually like to have some privacy with their litter box.

OR, did you get one of those litter boxes with the big dome and swinging door?  My daughter bought one of those and her kitten was afraid of it until she removed the "door".  Now it goes in and out of it with no problem.

  4. i had this SAME problem.. now my kitty LOVES his litter box.. ahha

ok well first, just drop your kitty into the litter box. even if he scurries awaay.. he knwos where it is!

    once you did that..

if you see him starting to p**p on the ground or osmething,

QUICKLY pick him up and put him into the kitty litter.

He will get the idea that THIS is were he needs to go !

Alsoo... if could be where the LKitty Litter is.

I used to have mine in the laundry room.. and the noise of the dryed and washer scared my cat.

So try to find a nice, quite, easy to reach pleace for the kitty litter.

If you keep doing the PIcking him up when he is doing his buiness and the putting him into the box thing .. you should be good

    xox goodluck
