Little Bridge – A rare challenger from New Zealand
United Kingdom, Australia and America have been producing some special racehorses over the years and they have been dominant in the field. However, there is one runner from New Zealand, who has made his country proud and will be looking to continue doing
so in the future of the sport.
His name is Little Bridge and he is definitely one of the most competitive in the modern era. He does not have a lot of experience, but that does not mean that he is short of talent. He has proved his worth to one and all with some splendid performances
over the past couple of years.
The six-year-old gelding started off his career on a positive note, winning five races on the trot. However, that was not enough for him to be considered as one of the best in the business. All those events were not much important and he had to deliver top
results with consistency at the highest level.
His team realised this fact and he was then tested in some important contests. He did find it hard to settle in, as the competition was tough and he was not used to handling such a pressure. He needed a lot of training in order to deliver better results
at the higher level.
The C. S. Shum’s trainee did not take a long time before getting in a position to be competitive against the best in the business. He appeared in a few Group 2 and 3 events and victories in them gave him the confidence to do better in event higher classes.
Faltaat’s trainee finally realised his dream of racing in a Group 1 event at Ascot, where he was up against some of the greatest stallions of the current era. He was not rated as the favourite to succeed and had to be at his best in order to claim the cash
prize of £198,485 from the mega event.
Despite being under immense pressure, the Kiwi gelding stormed to the top spot by three quarters. He started off steadily and really pushed harder towards the final few furlongs. This was the biggest achievement of his career and he will definitely look
to make his team proud in the future as well.
Little Bridge has mostly been ridden by jockey, Zac Purton, who is highly talented and will definitely make a name for himself in the future.
