Little Golden Balls in water with icing sugar on ?

When i was in Egypt they were serving these little golden coloured balls which where floating on water and they take them out and drain them and then you put something like icing sugar on them

I was wondering if anyone can tell me what they are called

because they are delicious :)

  1. They are called Malasadas in hawaii. Its dough that you deep fry and when you take it out you roll it in sugar/ or sugar and cinnamon. You can also stuff it with custard filling ( that tastes sooo good). My grandma had went to Louisiana for Sugar Bowl and bought back some beignet mix which is similar to a malasada but a bit more rich and with powdered sugar instaead of cane. i hoipe this was of help i would give you the recipe but I have no idea whats in that dough google it hehehe.
