Little Mike to go big in the Arlington Million Stakes
A very fierce, competitive and strong line-up has turned for the Grade 1 Arlington Million Stakes at the Arlington Park over a mile and two furlongs. Eleven three-year and above will race on Saturday, 18th August for getting entitled to the $367,742
prize money. Every entry on the line-up has raced at different stages of the graded races and most of them have been successful at different instances.
Little Mike, the five-year-old gelding turns out to be one of the most credible entries for the race. Ever since the new season began, he has raced in four events and has won twice. One of his most significant wins was in the Grade 1 Woodford Reserve Turf
Classic.
The Dale Romans’ trained won his seasonal debut in the Sunshine Millions Turf on 28th January, 2012 at Gulfstream Park over 1 1/8 miles. The gelding had the race recorded as a win on his profile in a minute and :45.94 seconds.
Conquering the season, the connections took their chances with the Grade 3 Canadian Turf on 3rd March, 2012 at Gulfstream Park over a mile. He ended fourth while the race was won by, Doubles Partner, who timed the track distance in a minute and
:32.56 seconds.
The first attempt did not prove as fruitful as was the very next one.
Spanish Steps’ gelding made the most out of the Grade 1 Woodford Reserve Turf Classic on 5th May, 2012 at Churchill Downs over 1 1/8 miles on turf. It took him a minute and :48.81 seconds to settle the race while setting Slim Shadey as the runner-up.
Impressed and confident about the performance and form of the under charge the connections opted for him another grade 1 challenge, the Shoemaker Mile.
However, this time the fate was not as fortunate as before, he lost the race to a respectable third position while the race was won by, Jeranimo.
The 7 to 1 entry for the race will be guided through the track by jockey, R. A. Dominguez and the duo will break from the fourth gate to take hold of the impeding competition.
