Little Owl shoots down Yellow Cab in the Everglades Classic Cup - US Polo Update
Jason Crowder lit the lamp six times and had an assist, as Little Owl spanked a 14-6 victory over Yellow Cab in the first round of the Everglades Classic Cup being played at the International Polo Club, Wellington.
The foursome of Little Owl delivered a striking performance in the inaugural contest and marked fourteen goals while holding competitors only for six scores. It seemed that Little Owl was contesting the game against a junior team, as the firing from goal-striking
machines continued throughout the game.
Yellow Cab has had legendary names in their side including Lucas Monteverde and Pablo Spinacci, but they failed to make an impact in the game. The balance of offence and mature defence of Little Owl crushed out the opposite side, as they won the first game
of the 16-goal handicap tournament.
The strikers of Little Owl started the game at a fast pace and received three goals while holding opponent, Yellow Cab only for a single point. The trio of Little Owl including Crowder, Chris Nevins and J. P. Uihlein scored one goal each and established
their early dominance in the game. Spinacci added a goal from the field to get Yellow Cab into the score, as the chukka ended with Little Owl hanging on to a commanding two-goal advantage with the score on 3-1.
The defensemen of the Yellow Cab further tightened the defence and limited Little Owl only for a single score. However, their attackers failed to bear fruits in the period. Crowder notched the single point for Little Owl and expanded the lead to three goals
after the two-chukka of play.
The speed of the game continued to accelerate as both teams wanted to take lead in the game. Nevins scored a couple of goals, while his team-mate Joe Wayne Barry accounted for one goal and upped the Little Owl lead to six scores. The strikers of Yellow Cab
were not sitting idle and scored two more goals in the period. Spinacci and Monteverde scored a couple of goals and cut the lead down to four goals, 7-3 at the end of the first half of action.
The two teams exchanged three goals in the fourth and fifth periods before Little Owl started to press the Yellow Cab defensive-line. Crowder and Nevins scored two and one goal respectively for Little Owl, as Monteverde, Spinacci and Jeff Garber did it for
Yellow Cab. Little Owl was holding a four-goal lead with seven minutes left to play.
The final seven minutes of play was dominated by Little Owl, as it received four goals while holding Yellow Cab scoreless. Crowder converted a couple of goals of which one came on a penalty shot while other from the field. In the later time, Nevins and Barry
added one goal each and sealed the victory of Little Owl at 14-6.
Crowder was highest scorer of the match with six goals while Nevins added five goals. Barry and Uihlein scored two and one goal respectively for the win.
The trio of Yellow Cab including Spinacci, Monteverde and Jeff Garber scored three, two and one goal respectively in the loss.
