My cousin and I are planning a day trip to the Little Piney in the middle of August. My question is can anyone tell me if I can leave my waders in the car and just use wading boots? Missouri has gotten alot of rain this summer and there should be plenty of water. Can someone give me their thoughts please. Thanks.

  1. It might be advised if you do where waders, they can protect your legs from sharp objects and they will ensure you dont get too cold which can happen when standing in a river for long periods of time, dont use hip/thigh waders as its all to easy to flood them if you hit a deep area, use chest waders, you can where wading boots on there own with out the waders however your feet will get soaked with water, also they may be a little loose because they are intended for you to wear a pair of waders with the neoprene stocking foot design.

  2. OK to use just wading boots.

    I am heading there today.

  3. i fish the french broad river in western north carolina all the time and i can say through experience that as long as the water is warm enough don't wear hip or chest waders at all. in any body of water the chances of stepping into a deep hole is always present and once, when i wasn't paying attention, my chest waders filled up and i thought i was history. i pay much more attention now! as long as your foot wear has felt soles or cleated soles you'll be fine- i prefer felt soles. your wading boots will tend to get sand and gravel in them after a while so you might have to empty them periodically or you can by "spats" to go over the tops. for me wading is much more fun than using a boat- you are actually hunting the fish! tight lines!
